Chaplain’s Message:

This was Fr Carlos’ last meeting, and he wanted to thank the council. The new pastor will be here August 16. The month of August is the month we commemorate Michael McGivney (August 13 is his feast day). Fr Carlos shared a story of Michael McGivney saying mass in jail for a man sentenced to hanging, encouraging the members to show charity to others, and to remind that small actions can go a long way.

 

Grand Knight Report:

Thank you to Fr Carlos, we wish him all the best and success in his future. He was named Knight of the Month for August.

Glad to have everyone present, encouraged everyone to be safe. New opportunities for KofC programs.

 

Membership Report:

Excited about creating new one-sheeter, and looking forward to in-person recruitment.

Members at St Andrews council are looking to transfer. Mike McMinneman and Don were approved for transfer and Phil Clinkenburg was approved for membership.

 

Financial Secretary Report:

Collecting dues, $345 so far, members can mail or submit in person. Supreme was late with 2022 membership cards. Received fraternal planner for new year.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

No update to balances. Did write check #1096 for $1,123.00 for Per Capita.

 

Program Director:

Breakfasts may not be returning in September as hoped, will see how things progress over the coming months.

 

Bills and Communication:

Faith Director Report:

Nothing.

 

Community Director:

Nothing

 

Life Director:

JMJ sent information about a young lady they have helped with two births, looking for donations of all kinds related to pregnancy and babies.

 

Family Director Report:

None

 

Fourth Degree Report:

Bishop Ramza is 4th degree patron saint, so the Fourth Degree will have a Slavic dinner on November 13 for his feast day. They will also take Fr Sal to Sleuth’s on I-Drive December 16. Ronald McDonald house is still closed to volunteers. Re-elections of officers took place last month. 

 

Insurance Agent Report:

Brian introduced himself, he just celebrated his 5th year as KofC Field Agent. The Knights are looking to grow the agency in Central Florida. Brian encouraged the members who have not yet met with him to set that up and see all that the Knights have to offer. Knights added new tools that help with offering mutual funds to individuals. Encouraged the council members to welcome new men into council.

 

District Deputy Report:

None; a new District Deputy has not been assigned.

 

Unfinished Business:

The installation of officers will take place at 9am in the parish center on Saturday, August 28.

Plans for recycling bin were presented, but will wait for feedback from new pastor.

Smile.amazon.com can be set up to donate to KofC of Florida.

Altar server of the month is a program that is currently on hold but still looking for ideas for rewards to those selected (gift cards suggested).

 

New Business:

MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) is a new ministry at Resurrection and is requesting a $400 donation to start up the program (motion passed). Also wanted us to spread word about it to get volunteer help with the program. There will be a novena for Fr McGivney running August 4-12, daily emails will be sent with the prayers. A remembrance rosary service for deceased members is tentatively planned to be held on November 6 before 5:00 mass. The church is looking for a Business Manager, as well as head of maintenance, Fr Carlos encouraging people to apply. Dcn Fred mentioned that parishioners have appreciated the books we have ordered and handed out, and presented a new book opportunity for $1 each, titled “Life is Messy”; the motion to purchase 150 books passed. The council will be adding corporate communion to breakfast mornings. The new Pastor is Fr Hector, Scotty encouraged everyone to be sure to mention you are a Knight when you introduce yourself. The church is planning a farewell mass and reception for Fr Carlos on August 13 at 7pm, the Knights were requested to assist with set up at 6. The council will be presenting a gift from the Knights.
