Previous meeting’s minutes were provided online and approved.

 

Chaplain’s Message:

Fr Tien told his story of being inspired to join priesthood, we are here because of God’s grace, love, and mercy.

 

Grand Knight Report:

The Lenten fish fries were successful; the English retreat on March 8 was well attended; there is an event on April 10 where we will prepare dinner for the priests doing reconciliation; the council was asked to be part of night watch program for Holy Thursday (April 17); on April 26 the church is hosting a youth event and we are helping with parking; April 27 will be the Easter Egg Hunt; on May 17 we will be holding the Sock Hop shoe drive; reminded council of RSVP program reminder, motion passed to provide $500 to each seminarian (and receive $100 credit per).

 

Bills and Communication:

Council received handwritten note and donation from Scotty’s parents.

 

Membership Report:

Have recently had a lot of new members, including Lincoln who just took his degree and introduced himself at meeting.

 

Financial Secretary Report:

Fish fries are doing well $1,719 expenses, taken in $3,700 profits, $585 in cash and checks to turn in.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

January Balance: $10,326

February Receipts: $414

February Expenses: $784.65

February/April Balance: $9,955.35

 

Program Director:

Brought easter card for John and Maria Long; one more fish fry coming up this Friday; dinner for 10 priests on upcoming Thursday, serve chicken with salad and sides and desert, will need help with prep at 3:30 and then serving dinner at 5:00 and then clean up; sock hop still need final confirmation that it’s happening on May 17, scotty in charge of entertainment, Hank in charge of food, Rob Knof in charge of classic cars, looking for someone to lead donation committee.

 

Faith Director Report:

Holy Thursday night watch 10pm-10am, KofC officially 1am-2am, but anyone can join at any time, COR men’s group meeting on April 15.

 

Community Director:

Nothing

 

Life Director:

Past Wednesday was protest for defund planned parenthood from 10:30-1:00, after Easter will find out about baby bottle drive, JMJ has two new programs, send email to pray for woman who comes in crisis, trying using uber to bring women in for delivery, Lake Eola rosary program lost its leader, but will continue on third Saturday of every month.

 

Family Director Report:

Will do Easter Egg Hunt the week after Easter (4/27) after 7:30 and 9:00 masses, will need assistance with hiding eggs and conducting the hunt. Parking for youth event begins at 4:45.

 

Fourth Degree Report:

Problem with flag at St Nicholas church, was torn down in storm, looking for assistance with putting new flag up via a lift.

 

Insurance Agent Report:

None

 

District Deputy Report:

Met quota for double star council, had live degree at St Faustina, three of four councils in district eligible to make star, received SP7, council is in good shape.

New Business:

This coming Friday is stations of the cross at 5pm, need help at fish fry but also want people to also attend stations, Festa Junina is looking for sponsors, with event happening on June 7, members are encouraged to attend; big breakfast returns in May for Mother’s Day; brother Rafael is getting married on May 9 at 2:00 at Resurrection, welcomed brothers to attend mass; every Friday at 11:30 we have rosary and adoration at noon, looking for knights to help every first and third Friday.

 

Lecturer’s Reflection:

Where did giving up something for lent come from? Stems from biblical narrative of Jesus fasting in desert 40 days.
